The show in Centennial Hall opened with the Vocal Ensemble performing three songs — Shalom Chaverim, a Hebrew folk song, accompanied by Ayako Ogawa ’24 on flute; Winter Lullaby, by Pinkzebra; and Jing, Jing, Jingle Bells, a modern arrangement of an old favorite.
Mezzo soprano Yoyo Chen ’26 then followed with the first of two solo performances, singing “Beauty and the Beast,” to a piano accompaniment by MHS Director of Music Deborah Duff. Mezzo soprano Anna White ’27 then sang “Home,” also from Beauty and the Beast, and accompanied by Ms. Duff.
Two duet performances followed. Soprano Kyana Chainani ’25 and alto Casey Lai ’25 teamed to sing “Love in the Dark,” by Adele, and soprano Molly Casey ’24 and alto Ella Tawes ’24 sang “Love is an Open Door,” from Frozen 2.
The evening’s final songs came from Grace Notes, the School’s a cappella group, featuring Molly Casey ’24, Kyana Chainani ’25, Kitty Chen ’24, Ing Chenkulprasutr ’26, Willa Dowling-Paul ’25, co-Head Honey Fields ’24, co-Head Iva Knezevic ’24, Casey Lai ’25, and Trinity Ren ’26.
The group performed “White Winter Hymnal” and the traditional “Auld Lang Syne,” then the lights in Centennial Hall were dimmed, and the show closed with “A Hanukkah Celebration” and “Silent Night,” with descant, both sung by candlelight.
