Whole Student Approach Gets Stronger
New Counselor Abby Ryan Ruble ’92
The newest member of the MHS Health and Wellness Center is no stranger to Miss Hall’s.
Abby Ryan Ruble ’92 is our School Counselor, rounding out a team that has played a crucial role in the School’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and in spotlighting a “whole-student” approach to health and wellness at Miss Hall’s.
Abby comes (back!) to MHS with two decades of experience in school counseling and private practice, including work in public and private secondary schools in the United States and overseas. Since 2014, she has also maintained her own practice, AHR Professional Counseling, providing one-on-one counseling for clients ages 12 to 60.
At MHS, Abby’s work includes individual and group counseling with students in need of support with school adjustment, interpersonal conflicts, academic challenges, and/or mental health. She will also be collaborating with Director of Health and Wellness Kristen Milano, Dean of Students Cherèva McClellan, and the Student Life team to develop a proactive schoolwide wellness program.
“MHS is so fortunate to have Abby joining us,” says Ms. Milano. “Her extensive experience in mental health and school counseling, as well as her background working with students from many different places, are a boon for our students and school community as a whole!”
Most recently, Abby was director of School counseling at Vergennes Union High School in Vergennes, Vermont. She has also served since 2019 as Intake Coordinator and Clinician with The Truman Group, which provides mental health consultation and psychotherapy to expatriates living overseas.

A Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, she holds an M.A. degree in school counseling from the University of Phoenix, in Denver Colorado.
Welcome back, Abby!
