National Merit Commended Students Named
Recognizing academic achievement
MHS seniors Phuong ’25 and Casey ’25 have been named Commended Students in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program.
The designation means Phuong and Casey placed among the top 2.6% of the 1.3 million students who entered the 2025 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. In addition to recognizing their exceptional performance on the exam, the honor also recognizes their academic promise.
In addition to their academic achievements, both Phuong and Casey are active members of the Miss Hall’s community
Phuong is in her second year as co-Head of Essence, an MHS coalition devoted to the creation of harmony among all students, regardless of race and ethnicity, and she is active in the School’s International Student Alliance. She is also a member of the MHS Vocal Ensemble, plays the violin, and has performed with the MHS Violin Quintet. Phuong has also served as an MHS Admissions Ambassador.
Casey is School President and served last year as Junior Class President. She is an Admissions Ambassador and member of Grace Notes, the School’s a cappella singing group, and she performed last winter in the Theater Ensemble’s winter musical, Matilda. In April 2023, Casey was among eight MHS students who participated in the Future Leaders in Public Service Leadership Conference at Harvard University.
Congratulations!
