Come Home 2019
Inspiring Alumnae and Student Connections
Great conversations and great weather marked the second annual “Come Home” celebration, which saw trailblazing MHS alumnae return to campus last September for a wonderful weekend.
Alumnae and student connections, formal and informal, were the order of the weekend, with conversations taking place across campus and across generations. These genuine interactions, whether at a Dining Room Table, in a classroom, or around a bonfire in the Quad, inspired students and adults alike.
The inaugural MHS Alumnae Library featured amazing women from across the decades sharing their stories in conversations with adults and students. Thank you to our “books” — MHS Board President Nancy Gustafson Ault ’73, Rachel Ingram ’09, Kristin Luckenbill (daughter of Julie Luckenbill ’67), Ellen Holmes Maloney ’57, Robin Peterson ’89, Kathleen (Katie) Sagarin ’08, Hannah Van Sickle ’92, Hope Ward ’11, Edie Stetson Yovu ’67, and Yiyan Zhou ’91 — for connecting with students and community members eager to learn about different pathways, identities, and mark-making in the world.
Saturday afternoon’s Horizons Spotlight in the Jeannie Norris Horizons Studio also was a smashing success. Five seniors — Olivia Irion, Lyn Liu, Matilda Tran, Ayla Wallace, and Yaya Wang — pitched their Horizons projects to alumnae and Trustee visitors, who offered suggestions, feedback, and advice on the concepts, which students are working on independently this year.
Thank you to all who joined us. We enjoyed seeing alumnae and friends return to campus for a weekend of catching up, cheering on the volleyball and soccer teams, stopping by the new School Store to pick up MHS gear, and, most importantly, spending time with our remarkable students.
