On March 31, Head of School Julia Heaton sat down with WURD’s “The Source” to talk about Miss Hall’s and our approach to education. “Miss Hall’s is a space of adaptation and innovation,“ Ms. Heaton said, “and more important, we are a space dedicated to the advancement of girls. We are unapologetically about girls and young women, their empowerment, their voice, and their unlimited potential to change the world. It's pretty exciting.“

“Part of our job as a school,” Ms. Heaton said, “is to create a sense of belonging from the moment students get here, and to continue to do that through the full time during their time at the school.“
She continued, “Every adult is trained in equity and inclusion practices — ” at which point, Ms. Lawful Sanders jumped in: “Ms. Heaton, I officially like you!”
The interview wrapped up exploring how boarding school can be a powerful experience for many students — even those who might not have considered boarding school an option. “What I’ve learned that’s so powerful, is that boarding school is an intentional community,” Ms. Heaton stated. “You get to build that sense of inclusion and belonging in a very deliberate way.”
