Summer Opportunities!

Experience the Miss Hall’s Magic at one of our amazing workshops, July 25-29

Our 80-acre campus in the heart of the Berkshires is busy year-round.

In addition to serving as the summer residence for the Tanglewood Music Center's pre-professional musicians for more than three decades, this summer we are also hosting two amazing summer opportunities for teens: a Rock Band Workshop and an Acting/Audition Workshop. Both workshops are co-ed and will run July 25 to July 29.

Have you ever dreamed of playing in a band? This summer, turn your rockstar dreams into a reality, with the Summer Rock Band Workshop at MHS. Whether you are a newbie or an experienced jammer, we are looking for inspired bass, guitar, keyboard, and vocalists with a team spirit.

Over the course of one week, we will develop a repertoire of student-selected songs, then perform for friends and family with a Thursday showcase. Learn how to play new songs, communicate with your bandmates, and level up your playing skills! For more information, contact jeffhow12@gmail.com.

Skill Pre-Requisites: Beginner level of familiarity with your instrument; no sight-reading skills necessary.

Participants should also bring water and snacks while attending the workshop.

Meet the instructor

I am Jeffrey Howard, Instrumental Music Teacher at MHS and a professional musician and music educator who teaches guitar, bass, piano, drums, ukulele — and more! A music instructor for the past decade, I have taught online and in-person lessons to students of all ages.

I also have experience as a music consultant, journalist, and arts & entertainment editor, but what I love most is sharing my passion for playing music.

Teen Acting/Audition Workshop

Filling Your Toolbox: Audition Workshop

We will study the craft of acting by visiting different types of acting techniques and exercises, including The Method, improvisation, Meisner technique, and emotional preparation and text analysis. You will build your own box of tools to use in scene work and monologues and ways of approaching and preparing for auditions.

Objective: The goal is to lay the foundation to the craft of acting by focusing on solo or group audition pieces. You will be able to work on one or two monologues/songs or a scene to have in your arsenal of tools.

— No prior experience necessary, but this is a more intensive week of play geared toward a college or preprofessional experience.

Participants should also bring water and snacks while attending the workshop.

Meet the Instructor

I am Jennifer Jordan, the instructor for the Summer Teen Theater Workshop. I have worked as an actor and a teacher professionally for over 30 years. As a current teacher and mentor to teen students, I love to bear witness to the growth and discovery of teens by providing a place for them to truly express themselves, build confidence, work in collaboration with others, and “play.” I hope you will consider sending your teen to the MHS Theater Workshop this summer!
